Justified Rebellion - No Excuses (1988) (pre-Immortal) (demo)
Christian Speedcore Metal
Members:
All the names are aliases except for Harley Hank.
One of the first bands that Scott Albert of Circle of Dust fame was involved with.
They changed their name to Immortal.
“Thick-Headed Mule” was re-recorded by Immortal.
Biff Braddock - Bass grinding, vox
G. Smiley - Noises of a guitarish sort, b. vox
Thunderstix - Drums, b. vox
Harley Hank = B. vox, lead vox on “No Excuses”
All the names are aliases except for Harley Hank.
Biff Braddock can be seen playing the 'stick' bass in the Circle of Dust video for Telltale Crime.
He eventuality went on to be a wildly-sought out studio musician and played for Sixpence None the Richer and also Shania Twain.
G. Smiley is short for Guy Smiley because his face had an uncanny resemblance to Guy Smiley from Sesame Street.
T. Stix is short for Thundersticks.
Harley Hank was a guest vocalist. He really had a Harley.
WUSB 90.1 was the college radio station at Stony Brook University, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York.
A couple of guys used to guest D.J. there and play Christian music.
"The first station of the 90's" - meaning 90.1
a guess is there is not any more than 50 in existence.
(Now) Celldweller is wildly successful, has an international following, and this is the very first thing released with his musicianship.
The story behind Justified Rebellion’s (joke) track “Icabod”?
The lyrics are “Icabod – the glory has departed.”
Christian Rock Music was very controversial in the 1980’s. Many said it was of the Devil.
Pentecostal minister David Wilkerson, the author of the book “The Cross and The Switchblade” attended a Christian Rock Concert.
He claimed to have a vision of demons flying around the stage
and Satan’s voice saying, “Ha! They think they are worshipping God, but they are actually worshipping me!”
He ran out of the room screaming, “Icabod – the glory has departed!”
